FDA, Congress and the industry are currently spending significant time and resources on food safety issues after the recent recalls involving peanut butter, pistachios, jalapeño and Serrano peppers, spinach, and others. Currently, there are numerous bills in Congress that are exploring significant changes that would further expand the FDA legal authority over food safety. Regardless of whether Congress passes food safety legislation, there are significant steps taken by the FDA and the industry. This session will explore the practices that are being implemented by companies today to mitigate food safety issues.
