Several key fronts are currently facing momentous challenges: The international economy and the financial system are under duress; the Middle East continues to be a hotbed; the struggle against terrorism is ongoing; and the emerging economies, especially China, continue to grow, changing the face of globalization. Hadley explains how the United States must continue to stand for the spread of freedom, democracy, justice, and the rule of law not only because our nation stands for these things, but because stable democratic states are the best partners to building a better and safer world. He dissects the dynamics around the world that comprise this delicately balanced environment where the United States leads the way militarily, economically, and politically. From 2005-2009 Stephen Hadley served as National Security Advisor for President George W. Bush. Previous to that post, he served as Condoleezza Rice’s deputy at the National Security Council. During President Bush’s first presidential campaign, he served as a senior foreign and defense policy advisor and also worked in the Bush-Cheney transition. |
